Our July meeting is scheduled for 6:00 PM, Thursday, July 10, 2025 at the law offices of Knobbe Martens, 3579 Valley Centre Drive, Suite 300, San Diego, CA 92130.
U. S. patent agent Dave Waller will discuss how to use the right jargon to create the best description of your product and patent claims. He will also cover what are the most common reasons for patents being rejected.
SDIF President's Message
Even if you are an experienced and successful inventor, it’s wise to review some of the basic information on patents from time to time. Very few people are knowledgeable about every aspect of obtaining a patent for a new product, much less how to have it manufactured and get it to the market. We can always learn new ways to get things done in in a more efficient manner.
Join us every month to continue your progress by learning from the pros.

Reminder- Rita Crompton, of FLeCusa International, the Invent Lady I wrote about in my April blog article, asked me to remind everyone to subscribe to the free Invent America Newsletter at www.AmericasInventorLady.com and download the free Inventors Galaxy Guide. Inventors who have secured their patent can also be guests on her Invent America Radio show for free. If any inventors are interested, they can email her at rita@americasinventorlady.com.
.The San Diego Inventors Forum supports the work of the national organization, US Inventors, to restore patent rights since the organization was founded in 2014 after the passage of the America Invents Act of 2011. US Inventor is the only organization representing small inventors, businesses, and startups to enact change that supports these groups, and it has grown to about 87,000 members over the past couple of years.
US Inventors now has a new petition that states: THE UNDERSIGNED CALL ON CONGRESS TO PASS LEGISLATION TO ADDRESS THESE CRITICAL ISSUES
“Our patent system is in crisis. Recent changes to patent laws and Supreme Court decisions have adversely affected inventors such that the requirement in Article I, Section 8, Clause 8 of our U.S. Constitution of “securing for limited times to inventors the exclusive right to their discoveries” is no longer achieved. It is nearly impossible to stop an infringer from using an invention without permission, or to make them to pay for the damage caused when they do.”
