Our April meeting will feature a presentation by Adrian Pelkus, former president of SDIF, on the topic of “17 Mistakes Inventors Make.”  Adrian will be available live via Zoom to answer any questions after the presentation.

Our April meeting is scheduled for 6:00 PM, Thursday, March 13, 2025 at the law offices of Knobbe Martens, 3579 Valley Centre Drive, Suite 300, San Diego, CA 92130.  We encourage everyone to RSVP, and I look forward to seeing you again at our next meeting.

At our March meeting Edwin Wold spoke on Inventors Approaching Funding Sources.  He discussed the following two frustrating obstacles/problems that plague inventors:  Accessing needed capital and difficulties encountered during Invention development when you try to wear multiple hats to bring an invention from concept to fruition.  He presented some viable potential solutions.   If you weren’t able to attend, please contact me to request the PowerPoint presentation to be send to you (michelenh@frontier.com).

The San Diego Inventors Forum supports the work of the national organization, US Inventors, to restore patent rights since the organization was founded in 2014 after the passage of the America Invents Act of 2011. US Inventor is the only organization representing small inventors, businesses, and startups to enact change that supports these groups, and it has grown to about 87,000 members over the past couple of years.

US Inventors now has a new petition that states:  THE UNDERSIGNED CALL ON CONGRESS TO PASS LEGISLATION TO ADDRESS THESE CRITICAL ISSUES

“Our patent system is in crisis. Recent changes to patent laws and Supreme Court decisions have adversely affected inventors such that the requirement in Article I, Section 8, Clause 8 of our U.S. Constitution of “securing for limited times to inventors the exclusive right to their discoveries” is no longer achieved. It is nearly impossible to stop an infringer from using an invention without permission, or to make them to pay for the damage caused when they do.”

SDIF President's Message

Mistakes are inevitable and we shouldn't be afraid of making them.  In fact, we should expect and welcome them and then learn to correct them quickly to faster advance toward our goals.
The best way, however, is learning from other people's mistakes.  At our upcoming meeting, we will virtually tap into the vast experience of our former SDIF president Adrian Pelkus, who will elaborate on this very issue ... followed by Q&A session.  Knowledge is power!. See you there!
